When Upgrades Go Bad

Ever since I got into systems adminsitration, I've run a modest network at home. Even though I'm no longer officially a sysadmin at 3Sharp (although I do my share of looking after our network), I've maintained and expanded my home network just to keep my hand it. It gives me a useful test bed to try things out that I can't do here (or easily do in virtual machines).

This weekend, I ran into a nightmare scenario: upgrading my domain controller to Windows Server 2003 SP1 went bad. True, it's my home network, but I really didn't want to spend the next couple of weeks rebuilding everything from the ground up. On my personal blog, I outline what the problem was and how I fixed it.
