We've been giving a Lotus Notes Integration roadshow. It's been a fun time and we've had the chance to talk to lots of hot-shot Notes developers to brainstorm how to integrate .Net with Notes!

More on Integrating Office with Lotus Notes

I just found out that a web cast I gave back in June was rated in the top 10 for something-or-another. It's called Integrating Microsoft Office 2003 with Lotus Notes/Domino and, as you can probably guess, it's all about integrating Office System 2003 Professional with Lotus Notes. If you're looking for info on the subject, I've packed a lot into that hour-long slot.

We build an InfoPath form that submits to Notes and then pull Notes data down into Excel for reporting. All as XML of course. I can't remember what I had to cut from my course material, but I believe I also convert Notes data into Word docs. If you watch it and still have questions, feel free to contact me here!

Lotus Notes, MS Office & .Net

We're just about 1/2 way through our US road show where we teach Notes developers how to develop solutions with Office, SharePoint and managed code for their Notes applications. We're pretty proud of this course as it is sponsored by Microsoft but instead of pushing a migration story, it is all about co-existence. If your org has Notes and Office, it's worth registering for the technical sessions. It's a day long and free for you!

Here are the rest of our sessions:

Washington, DC - April 7 (don't worry about registering, just show up to the MS district office :^)
Houston - April 12
San Francisco - April 15
Chicago - April 21
Santa Monica - May 3

Getting to know SharePoint

I'm in the midst of giving a road show on extending Lotus Notes apps with Microsoft Technologies (managed code, web services, custom COM components, XML integration with Office System & SharePoint, etc...). It doesn't cost anything to attend and you get cool stuff like company store credit and potentially other giveaways like VB.Net (not to mention getting to spend 8 hours with yours truly *grin*)

Besides the blatant advertising, this post is for all of the Lotus Notes developers I've been talking to over the past few weeks who are interested in SharePoint. We only have an hour or two to talk about SharePoint in the course and the product is so much deeper than what we have time to cover.

Fortunately, Microsoft is hosting a series of online labs that let you terminal in to a sandboxed server where you can configure and program to SharePoint Portal Server. Here is a list of the labs that you can try for free without having to bother with setting up a machine!

An Introduction to Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies

Creating a Custom Site Definition for Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services

Creating a Web Part for Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies

Creating Connectible Web Parts for Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies

Managing Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Content and Navigation

Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 People and Personalization

Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies Permissions Management

Using Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 to Customize Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services

Using Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services with Microsoft Office Professional 2003 Applications

Using the Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Object Model
